The Pelikan Souveran in Black and Green is perhaps the brands most recognisable pen and uses the 'differentiated piston' fill mechanism first introduced by Pelikan in 1929.
Adhering to a special Pelikan technique, the raw material cotton is processed through many different steps until it is shaped into a striped sheet. It is then formed into the right shape, cut and sanded with a diamond. Next, the characteristic double clips at the back of the barrel and on the cap are integrated into the material. It is then polished and then the spring clip is fitted.
This model, the largest in the Souveran Line, features an 18 carat gold medium nib, refined with rhodium decor, and the differential piston-filling mechanism is 24 carat gold plated.
The pen measures 14.6 cm with the cap closed and 17.4 cm with the cap posted. The pen weighs 34.1 without ink.
