The Souverän fountain pen is a world-wide symbol for Pelikan, and was launched in 1950. There are various models, but the 'Black-Red' model, strong contrasting colours, was introduced in 2001.
Adhering to a special Pelikan technique, the raw material cotton is processed through many different steps until it is shaped into a striped sheet. It is then formed into the right shape, cut and sanded with a diamond. Next, the characteristic double clips at the back of the barrel and on the cap are integrated into the material. It is then polished and then the spring clip is fitted.
This model features an 14 carat gold medium nib, refined with rhodium decor, and the differential piston-filling mechanism is 24 carat gold plated.
